Adam G. (Senegal)

My experience in Senegal was something I can never gain in America. It was a place where

everyone was friendly to even those who don’t live in their local area, a place where most of the

food is not only seafood but good and healthy food, and a place where you can take someone

and show them that you don’t need current technology to live and have fun.

Going to Senegal changed my perspective in life after experiencing how is it to share with

others that you know well or don’t, living as a local and with locals, and watching how locals

react to foreigners. Going to Senegal also allowed me to increased my skills in language,

exploration, photography, and leadership with the opportunities that the International Youth

Leadership Institute allowed us to consume. Senegal has also helped me increase my health

(physically) due to the amazing and healthy food I got to try with some dishes being the first

time I ever tried in my life, such as fish.

With everything I’ve experienced in Senegal and coming back to America, I realized that I

should be thankful for everything I have. However, being that the amazing people at Too Fly

were one of the few who gave me this opportunity with their support, Too Fly is receiving a huge

thank you from me, Adams Guerrero, for giving me this opportunity to spread my wings and

acknowledge the amount of information I am missing out on due to not exploration enough or

being dragged into false information.

Not a lot of people no matter what age can travel especially if you’re a minority, it seems

like, but Too Fly allowed me to travel and look at the world differently and to say finally say that

I’ve been somewhere that my ancestors may have once stood on makes me extremely

interested to not only go back to Senegal but to continue my exploration in Africa by going to

each and every country that I can possibly get to which is now my long term goal thanks to Too

Fly.

On an educational level, Too Fly allowed me to strengthen my resume, as I can now say I’ve

studied abroad in Senegal, which is not only something a lot of students my age can’t say but it

looks extremely great on my resume. So far I’ve had multiple people look at my resume leveling

from my teachers to accountants at the Barclays Bank and the one thing, all of them was

surprised to see was that I studied abroad in Senegal.

I honestly can’t thank Too Fly enough for their support to me and all of my other fellows who

joined me in my experience to Senegal. Due to Too Fly’s support, I have now the perspective to

make a difference in the world and with that, I (again) say thank you Too Fly; all of you at Too

Fly are just Too Fly for giving people like me an opportunity like traveling to Senegal.
