creating a world where every student has the opportunity to travel.

creating a world where every student has the opportunity to travel.
Too Fly Foundation is addressing the need to bridge the gaps between travel, education, and technology for students of color. Through our virtual reality travel experience and program, we are looking to expose students to new technologies, motivate students to learn, and encourage students to travel.
As travel restrictions are being lifted the communities we are serving may be less likely to travel now more than ever with financial hardships. Ideally, we’d be bringing these opportunities to their homes and giving them unique travel opportunities through education and technology.
Belize is often thought of as a Caribbean country in Central America because it has a history similar to that of English-speaking Caribbean nations. Indeed, Belize’s institutions and official language reflect its history as a British colony. However, its culture is more typical of that of other Central American countries. Belize’s small population is ethnically diverse and includes a large proportion of immigrants.
Brazil, country of South America that occupies half the continent’s landmass. It is the fifth-largest country in the world, exceeded in size only by Russia, Canada, China, and the United States, though its area is greater than that of the 48 conterminous U.S. states. Brazil faces the Atlantic Ocean
Country of western Africa, situated on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. Although relatively small in area and population, Ghana is one of the leading countries of Africa, partly because of its considerable natural wealth and partly because it was the first black African country south of the Sahara to achieve independence from colonial rule.
Japan, island country lying off the east coast of Asia. It consists of a great string of islands in a northeast-southwest arc that stretches for approximately 1,500 miles through the western North Pacific Ocean. Nearly the entire land area is taken up by the country’s four main islands.
Netherlands, country located in northwestern Europe, also known as Holland. “Netherlands” means low-lying country; the name Holland (from Houtland, or “Wooded Land”) was originally given to one of the medieval cores of what later became the modern state and is still used for 2 of its 12 provinces.
The Too Fly Foundation continuously works to bridge generations and inspire curiosity abroad. We understand the value of travel for our students but also recognize the glaring gaps students of color are facing in education, technology and, of course, travel. These gaps are more apparent due to the current COVID-19 climate.
the program is currently designed for 6th through 8th grade students, currently we are focused on the Dallas Metropolitan area, New York City area, DC, and Philadelphia.
please refer any students, schools, or student organizations to the program! We encourage you to share www.travelathome.today with anyone interested in the program. If there are any questions feel free to reach out to flightacademy@tooflyfoundation.org
the intent of the program is to provide students with an immersive experience that covers typical activities before international travel (such as research, budgeting, and planning for a trip), activities that are typical during your trip (such as identifying activities to participate in, learning about the local cuisine, local customs, and traditions), and post travel reflections.
Students will also have the opportunity to virtually tour their country online and with the virtual reality headsets, as well as participate in VR games and activities.
Too Fly will be taking our flight academy digital, addressing the need to bridge the gaps between travel, education and technology for students of color. Through our program we are looking to expose students to new technologies, motivate students to learn and encourage students to travel.
When travel restrictions are lifted the communities we are serving may be less likely to travel now more than ever with financial hardships. Ideally, we’d be bringing these opportunities in their homes and giving them unique travel opportunities through education and technology.
The student will have 10 days from the arrival of the Too Fly Virtual Curriculum Kit with equipment to complete the virtual curriculum. The experience is self-paced and can be completed at whatever pace the student feels comfortable but we reccommend 1-2 hours a day.
